people from the USA would quit assuming

I sincerely wish that people from the USA would quit assuming that just because something is illegal in their country, that it is also illegal everywhere else.

Now that said, I will try and answer this question in a reasonable manner without resorting to preaching about legalities.

First of all it wasn't the Limewire programme itself that gave u the virus. It was something u downloaded using the programme. Limewire is well known for its "collection" of viruses and a person needs to be on their toes when using Limewire.

I would recommend using a bittorrent client rather than Limewire, Ares or similar (although Ares isn't supposed to carry as many virus laden files as Limewire). Some popular bittorrent clients are "utorrent", "vuze" (also called azureus), "bittorrent" (also called mainline). There are others. Do a search for any of those programmes and u will locate them. All are free.

Another possibility is using "emule". do a search for that also.
