You would never expect to spend longer time on ripping than the duration of the time, would you? Aside from the compiler and libraries included with the full MinGW setup, that's all you need. Source files can be written in Notepad just fine. AVI, DVD, VCD, MPEG can be converted by Mac Video Convert Master. Supported formats: AVI to DVD, AVI to VCD, AVI to MPEG, MPEG to AVI, AVI to WMV.
There are plenty of programs you can find to make it easier, but they're really not necessary for small applications and learning.
If this is your first programming language, I would highly recommend Programming in C by Stephen G. Kochan, which you can find very very cheap used on Amazon and similar stores.

I am starting to learn C programming language but I do not know what compiler and other stuff to write my program. I have a Windows computer, what do i need to download.
Or you can use Visual C++ (free from Microsoft) to both write and compile.It helps you convert your dvd to 3gp converter, dvd to mobile and take it with you on your cell phone.
If you want to be difficult and compile using the windows shell, you can download and install gcc compiler. Otherwise, just download an IDE.

This is what I do.
1) zip the files in a password protected zip file (only those with the password can access the files)
2) upload the files to a windows live skydrive account (25gb free space, used to be 50gb)
3) give them the URL and password.
You can upload single files up to 50mb in size.
You may find there is a way to do this on YouTube but not sure.
