Can an iPod be powered from a wall outlet?

I recently got an iPod Touch, and an LG Dare cell phone, and the ell phone came with a female USB slot, and the phone connects to that with a 5-pin Mini USB cord. Could I put my Cord for the iPod into that slot, and safely charge my iPod? I've been told that ALL USB power is 5 Volts, but I'm not sure if that's true or not. Also, I used to have a homemade battery powered USB charger, called a MintyBoost, from AdaFruit Industries
I have an adapter that plugs into the wall that fits my usb cable for my IPhone. I have been able to charge my IPhone, my IPod and my children's IPod nanos with it with not problems. The adapter came with the IPhone and but it works for all my devices.
